Mercedes-Benz S-Class S 500 CGI dan S 350 CGI dipamerkan dalam acara peluncuran dua varian Mercedes terbaru, CGI (Charged Gasoline Injection)di Hotel Grand Hyatt, Jakarta, Senin (18 Juli 2011) kemarin. Harga Mercedes-Benz S 350 CGI adalah Rp2,019 miliar sementara S 500 CGI dipatok dengan harga Rp2,699 miliar. Keduanya telah tersedia di seluruh jaringan penjualan resmi Mercedes-Benz Indonesia serta diproduksi secara lokal.

Dalam jantung pacunya, S-Class telah menggunakan sistem penyemprotan dan penyuntikan bahan bakar langsung (spray-guided direct petrol injection) generasi ketiga yang dilengkapi dengan multi-injector (multi injection) dan multi-pengapian (multi-spark ignition).

Bila dibandingkan dengan mesin pendahulunya konsumsi bahan bakar pada teknologi CGI, mesin ini telah memenuhi standar emisi gas buang Euro 5 yang mampu menghemat lebih dari 24 persen. Sementara tenaga yang dihasilkan baik pada mesin 6 dan 8 silinder meningkat hingga 12 persen.

Untuk mengukuhkan diri sebagai sedan mewah, Mercedes-Benz akhirnya menjejali mesin S-Class yakni S 350 dan S 500 dengan teknologi CGI (Charged Gasoline Injection). Teknologi ini diklaim mampu meningkatkan tenaga, namun tetap irit bahan bakar serta ramah lingkungan.
